Embracing Change

This article provides practical strategies for embracing change and facilitating the same in others. Change can be challenging, especially when it’s personal, and we often struggle to comprehend why others resist change when we’re the ones initiating it. However, by applying these principles, we can empower ourselves and others to accept and embrace the inevitable shift in our culture.


  • Educate: Attend change and change management training, read articles and books, and engage in discussions with others. Educate your leadership and teams on the process of identifying, comprehending, accepting, embracing, and implementing change.

  • Practice: Begin by implementing small, easily understood, and accepted changes. This approach will help develop change processes that align with your organization and facilitate team participation in the change process.

  • Communicate: Regularly discuss changes and make them an integral part of your daily conversations. When a change is required, initiate discussions about it upfront and share updates often.

  • Listen: When change is happening to you, keep an open mind, listen to the details, and look for the positive aspects. As a change implementor, actively listen to your team and leadership, and open up channels for feedback.

  • Engage and Advocate: Engage in conversations about change with your teams, at all levels, on a regular basis. Identify individuals who can effectively promote change within your organization. Make change an integral part of your organizations culture.

  • Reinforce: Help change by introducing other changes that reinforce the reason and purpose behind the change. A physical change to the work environment can complement a process or organizational change.

  • Adapt: Don’t be left behind; actively seek ways to incorporate the change into your daily routines. As a change implementer, it’s crucial to embrace change and recognize that adjustments may be necessary to ensure the success of the change you introduced.
